OXFORD RIDGE STABLE
Oxford Ridge Stable is a comprehensive Dressage coaching, training, and boarding facility located a short 30 minute drive south of Ottawa, Ontario dedicated to providing an environment of excellence for Dressage riders and their horses.
Situated on 24 acres the facilities are comprised of a 24 stall stable, a 20m x 60m indoor riding hall, a 20m x 60m outdoor dressage ring (with all-weather rubber footing), tack room, washroom, boarder’s viewing lounge, and hay barn, as well as turn-out paddocks.
Established in 1990 by Ruth Koch (Certified Level III Dressage Coach and Trainer, Past Chair of Coaching, Dressage Canada), and her husband Steve Jorgensen, Oxford Ridge has enjoyed a successful 17 year history, growing from an initial 11 stall capacity to the current 24 stalls.
Head Coach Ruth and Assistant Trainer Erin Josey, coach both adult amateurs and youth riders, with special emphasis on young equestrians and their horses. Since 2000 Oxford Ridge has been involved with the FYRST Programme (Future Young Rider Select Training), which was conceived by Roz Farber and established to provide a consistent, positive, and rigorous coaching and training environment for aspiring young Dressage riders and their mounts to develop their talents. Ruth and Erin work in conjunction with FYRST National Coach, Albrecht Heidemann, who clinics across Canada and at Oxford Ridge at least four times per year.
The FYRST Programme has enjoyed significant success with victories for it’s riders in national and international (Mexico city, NAYRC) competitions, including riders from Oxford Ridge Stable. Our students currently include boarders from Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, south eastern Ontario and Quebec and have in the past included young people from Vancouver and Regina. Fluently bilingual, Ruth is also able to provide coaching in French.
Ruth and Steve welcome anyone with an interest in Dressage to visit Oxford Ridge, especially for Clinics with Albrecht Heidemann which are held on a regular basis.
